A diffusion model is just one way to perform an assessment of potential air quality. Another reliable way is to measure air quality directly. For air pollutants-, air quality is determined by sampling and analysis using measurement instruments.
Pro Monitoring uses a model called PLUIM-PLUS for air dispersion calculations. This is a model within the New National Model. The New National Model approaches the distribution of air pollutants using calculation rules. This brings an element of uncertainty along with it and has an effect on the measurements. Using a model in many cases is preferred.
Air diffusion calculation are performed in the context of the air quality law at odor investigations.
By entering the emission, load, exhaust gas characteristics and local conditions in the model, the outdoor concentrations around a stationary emission source (business or activity) can be calculated. The result shows for example, the annual average (particulates and NO2) or the 98th percentile contour (for odor).
To calculate the impact of air quality caused by traffic, where the local situation allows, the CaR II model is used.
