Chromium 6 in paint

Chromium 6 is a metal which is primarily used for its unique anti-corrosion properties. However, Chromium 6 has been found to be harmful to health and the environment. It is useful to know whether an object contains Chromium 6 so that safe choices can be made.

Eurofins contributed to the NEN 5617 by participating in the chromium 6 in paint systems committee group. In Q4 of 2022, the NEN standard 5617 is officially published. Eurofins is accredited for chromium 6 analysis under the ISO 15192 and NEN 5617. For the sampling of paint samples, a technical guideline has been prepared by OGOS.
